Professional Development

Overview

Professional Learning offers training, coaching, and technical assistance for educator excellence. The SASED professional learning team includes a committee of member district and program representatives who work to create a full continuum of professional learning supports. Spring Institute and special event workshops bring in state and national level presenters to introduce, and provide motivation for, new ideas. Research indicates that one time workshops alone do not result in changes in staff instructional practices. Therefore, SASED’s team of highly skilled professionals teach multi-day classes to extend learning through a training series, with opportunities to practice the skills learned and network with staff from other districts. Our professional educators also make up our School Improvement, Instructional Support, and Assistive Technology teams which support in-district and SASED program trainings to embed professional learning in the instructional setting. These services also can be utilized to provide small group or individual coaching and technical assistance to staff to model and support the skills as they begin to implement new practices.

General professional learning offerings, including SASED multi-district classes and Spring Institute/special event workshops are available free to all SASED /member district staff and parents, and are open to non-SASED staff and parents for a small fee. In-district trainings are available through a formal request process initiated by a SASED Program or member district administrator.
