SASED Services
Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy Services - SASED employs 50 full and part-time occupational therapists and physical therapists. These therapists provide therapy to 1200 students. Therapists are assigned to district schools on a cost for services basis.
Instructional Support Team - A team of 9 consultants with expertise in behavior management, autism, cognitive delays, technology, curriculum and general needs of students with disabilities provides direct services to assist individual students who are having serious difficulty succeeding in school district settings.
Assistive Technology Team – The goal of this service is to provide information and train IEP teams in districts and SASED to effectively consider and/or implement Assistive Technology for students with disabilities. This team is staffed by a part-time Coordinator, Occupational Therapist, and Speech/ Language Pathologist.
Private to Public Services – SASED assists school districts with decisions related to placement of students in private facilities and in returning students from private placements to public schools.
Mental Health Services – SASED maintains a linkage and contractual agreement with DuPage County Department of Mental Health for consultative services for students who have more severe mental disorders. Approximately 20 students/year are assisted through this linkage agreement
Professional Development Services - SASED coordinates a variety of staff development programs including full day institute activities several times a year, as well as weekend classes for graduate credit and a Summer Institute. These programs are attended by SASED and district employed educational support personnel and certified staff. Over 2,000 staff attend our development opportunities each year.
User Fee Staff – SASED recruits and employs specialized related service staff (Social Workers, Psychologists, Adapted P.E., Therapists, etc.) and assign this staff on a part-time or full-time basis to member school districts.
Personnel Recruiting – SASED assists districts in the recruitment and employment of qualified special education staff.
Supplemental Grants – SASED actively pursues grant projects to enhance services to students with disabilities. Ongoing supplemental grant projects include Parent, Vocational/Transition Assistance, as well as grants outlined in item G.
Administrative Services – As well as administering the above mentioned program/services, SASED coordinates many other administrative duties for member districts which include:
- Extended school year services (summer school) for SASED and DWC Low Incidence students
- iePoint State Reporting Services
- Student
- Personnel
- Extraordinary Claims & Cost Sheets
- Coordination of Personnel Reimbursement
- Transportation Contracts
- Coordination of Medicaid Direct & Administrative Outreach Service
- Compliance with IDEA
- Administrative Consultation & Technical Assistance
- Liaison to ISBE
- Management & training of Computerized IEP
- Administrator Meetings – Monthly for all District Coordinators
- Parents’ Advisory/Parent Liaison
- Coordinator for all DWC programming (SASED & LADSE)
- Fiscal Agent for DWC programming
