SASED Welcomes its New Administrators
We are very pleased to announce that Shelly Rowland, Karen Rebhan-Csuk and Christine Martin will be joining the SASED Administrative Team for the 2010-2011 school year. SASED was indeed fortunate to be able to secure the services of these three experienced administrators for the key positions of the Program Administrator for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, the Program Administrator for the Southeast Alternative School, and the Professional Development and School Improvement Coordinator respectively.
Shelly Rowland - will take over the responsibilities for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing programs at Manning and Miller Elementary Schools and Westmont Junior High School. Shelly has been a teacher of the hearing impaired across grades Pre-K-12, an ESY supervisor and an administrator of Hearing, Vision and high incidence special education programs. She most recently was an administrator for U-46. Shelly brings a wide range of experiences that will benefit the Deaf and Hard of Hearing program in all areas including teacher mentoring, curriculum and program development, and parent education.
Karen Rebhan-Csuk – will lead the Southeast Alternative School starting this August. The majority of Karen’s career has been spent in the service of students with emotional and/or behavioral disorders, first as a teacher then most recently as a successful administrator of the Joliet Township High School Alternative School program. Karen therefore brings a depth of experience in all aspects of educating this population but her particular knowledge of leading change initiatives in curriculum, assessment and instruction align extremely well with the current initiatives at Southeast.
Christine Martin – will take over the newly re-titled position of Professional Development and School Improvement Coordinator. As a Psychologist trained at the University of Oregon Christine came to Naperville District 204 over 17 years ago. Once there she was member of the team that brought the Flexible Delivery Service (a precursor to RtI and Problem Solving models) to the district and the area. She has been at the forefront of these efforts ever since and was the District 204 RtI/Problem Solving Coach. Christine has also been associated with the IASPIRE North Region since the inception of the state RtI grant and has become the DuPage County coordinator for all coaches. She is a primary presenter on Problem Solving, RtI, assessment and research based instruction for this area and throughout the state. Christine has already had direct contact with many of the SASED member district and is highly regarded within general education and special education circles. We are particularly excited that Christine’s background will not only be able to continue the high level of service and supports to our member districts in this initiative but that she will also bring expertise to lead SASED’s efforts to research and create a tiered intervention model for our low incidence populations.
We believe that all of these leaders will be an asset to the SASED Administrative Team with their knowledge and collaborative vision and we look forward to working with each of them!
