SASED Programs Overview

SASED Programs

Southeast Alternative School in Naperville has an enrollment of 108 students. The school provides special education classes for students with social/emotional disorders in grades 1-12.

Multi-needs Program has an enrollment of 115 students who exhibit multi-needs in that they have challenges in the areas of cognitive, physical, medical and/or developmental disabilities.  They may also have related needs in the areas of Speech/Language, Fine and Gross Motor, Sensory, Vision, Hearing and/or Orientation and Mobility.  The Multi-Needs Program serves students from Early Childhood through High School in 17 classrooms throughout DuPage County.

Hearing Impaired Program - SASED operates 17 classrooms for students with hearing impairments in Westmont, Villa Park, and Lombard.  Approximately 145 students are enrolled in this program at the preschool, elementary and junior high school levels.

Vision Disabilities Program - SASED operates this program for 76 students (preschool-high school) who are blind/visually impaired in Oakbrook Terrace, and Villa Park.

Physical Disabilities Program - SASED operates this program for 12 students with physical disabilities at Westmont Senior High School and the Transition Program.

DuPage Juvenile Detention Program – SASED provides educational services to students who are being held in this correctional facility.  The number of students varies daily, but averages 60/day.

Itinerant Program – Itinerant teachers serve over 400 students with hearing, vision, and orthopedic impairments in all member districts.

State Grants - SASED operates statewide grants employing 40 professional staff that travel throughout the state to facilitate and enhance inclusion, positive behavior, autism and parent training for the public schools. (CHOICES/EARLY CHOICES, PBIS, Autism Technical Assistance Combined Grant, Parent and Partnership Educator, and Surrogate Parent Program Grant )
