DuPage / West Cook

The DuPage West Cook Regional Special Education Association (DWC) is an intergovernmental agreement created to provide low incidence special education programs and services to students in the identified catchment area.

SASED is the operating and fiscal agent for DWC.  SASED provides a Coordinator for all DWC operations and classroom programming for students who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing (Pre-k to 8th grade) and for students who are Blind or Visually Impaired (Pre-k through Transition).  SASED also provides Audiology and specialized diagnostic services for members of the DWC intergovernmental agreement.  The LaGrange Area Department of Special Education (LADSE) provides programming for High School and Transition aged students from the member districts and cooperatives who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing. The Cooperative Association for Special Education (CASE) provides Itinerant teaching services for DWC students who have visual, hearing or orthopedic impairments and require that level of service.

DWC is organized under a Governing Board which consists of Superintendents or State Approved Directors of Special Education.  Board membership is made up of one representative (and an alternate) from each high incidence cooperative in DuPage and West Cook Counties. If a school district within the catchment area has an enrollment of at least 5,000 it is eligible to appoint its own representative and alternate to the Governing Board.
